These places have long waiting lists, up to a year. If you don't have family here, I would suggest a different place. The cost of housing isn't the only thing expensive here.

Default Need a Place to call mine

I am a 58 yr. old male. Quite in nature. Martial issues within my current residents have forced me to look for a place that I can call home, other than current occupancy. I'm looking in the Suffolk, Norfolk, area of Hampton Roads. Any and all help would be appriciated.

Only income based rent I know of on the Southside is through Section 8. Norfolk is taking applications for a development, and Portsmouth is taking applications for 2 developments. I know because I have put in applications myself for these developments! It is very hard here.

I'm not sure if Virginia Beach has anything like this. Chesapeake has been closed for a years, and quite honestly, I really do not want to live in Chesapeake anyway. Only parts of Chesapeake that are remotely affordable is South Norfolk, if you do not mind occasional gunfire it is okay. I've heard shots a few times during the summer but the rest of the year it was quiet.

I lived there for 3 years without any problems though.
