There was talk of an NHL team years ago, but that didn't happen. Then there was talk of the Redskins moving to the upper part of VA, but that didn't happen either. There are alot of Admiral and Tides fans as well as College sports fans. I really don't know what the take on a major team would be.

Personally, with all the NFL stars that came out of HR (Plaxico Burress VA Beach, Ronald Curry and Elton Brown Hampton, Dre Bly and Chris Crocker Chesapeake, Aaron Brooks and Antoine Bethea Newport News, Shawn Springs Williamsburg) the NFL seems like a good choice.

I would go for either a NFL or MLB team! I think both would be big since the closest teams to us are in Washington and you see a lot of support around here for the Nationals and the Redskins. I would like for one or the other to come though!!!

I would say NFL or MLB as well. I'm a huge NHL fan, but I don't think it can survive in HR, at least not yet.

I think an NFL team would be the only pro sport team that might have a chance in this area....Reasoning behind my thought is because of the 16 game season. This would mean that there would be only 8 regular season home games. When you are talking baseball or basketball you are talking many many more home games. 81 home MLB games for example. I do not think the local business or local residents in this area has $$$$$$$ to support that many games but might be able to find enough for the shorter NFL schedule.

I would love to see the NFL in Norfolk but I think the area is more of a Basketball city. The NBA seem to go for the smaller markets of 1 million and up while the NFL and MLB have more teams in the bigger markets or faster growing markets than our home. So I see the NBA being more of a fit to the city.

You got it! Also, both white and black people like NFL. Do black people care about baseball at all?

Not like it used to be. Major leagues only has about 8% of there players being black. This is a downward trend in the last couple decades.

What makes you think it's more of a basketball city? Just curious because I don't see it at all. It's more NFL and MLB but because of the number of games and length of the season people usually pay more attention to the NFL.
