Default Move to Hampton Roads Area - Advice Needed on Safety, Traffic, etc?

Hi,

I am thinking of a move from Massachusetts to the Hampton Roads area. I love the ocean so I would like to be close to it is possible.

I would be probably focusing on Chesapeake and VA Beach, but if going toward Hampton would make sense, I could do that. I am looking for a safe location, so I'm not sure about Hampton and Newport News.

I am an attorney and would be going to various courthouses for divorce, criminal and bankruptcy work, so, if possible, I want to be in a good place for the traffic issues I read about.

Anyway, I'm looking for advice about safety, traffic issues, and proximity to stores, restuarants and, hopefully, the ocean. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you're looking for Va Bch and Chesapeake, then the Redmill/Courthouse area would make sense. Not much traffic (at least in my experience) the beach is a straight shot down General Booth Rd, and Chesapeake is a straight shot in the other direction. Tons of shopping nearby as well.

Agree completely with Chessie Mom. I live in this area and you can find everything to rent from a townhouse around 200k to some of the most expensive homes in the area, and just about everything in between. It is close to the beached, has good shopping, and the schools are highly sought after. The whole courthouse complex is right around the corner. Check out zip code 23456. Please ask any questions.

Thanks for the replies. I will check that out. How is it safety-wise? Is this in VA Beach or Chesapeake or somewhere else?

Thanks

23456 is in southern Va Beach. I don't know of any safety problems here - my mom lives in Lagomar and I have other friends that are also in this area. No problems.
