Recently I accepted a position that requires a transfer to our Portsmouth Office. My wife and I currently live in Dayton, Ohio. The transfer is to take effect April 1 and some dings in our credit are keeping us from being approved at any rental apartments we have found online. My wife's uncle recomended we look at the area around ODU but I have NO IDEA who to contact for information regarding rental's close by. He said most of the places are short term and are rented to college students.

We are hoping someone at our Church can put us into contact with a local church down there that might be able to offer some advice. We need to find a rental in a SAFE neighborhood.. We are willing to look outside the tidewater area and commute if necessary.

I guess we need to find a private renter that is willing to work with us. We have great rental history and have references...

Thanks in advance for any information that can be provided,

Jerry

Search Hampton Roads.com heres a link
http://classified.hamptonroads.com/searchresults.cfm

Look for private owner ads. Call them and sell yourself and situation. If you have enough cash for a larger deposit maybe that would appeal to them. You can search all areas of Hampton Roads on the website

Good Luck !

Look on Craigslist as well. Post an ad on Craigslist "Home needed to rent. "Its free.

Hope this helps !
