Default So how many store closings have we seen?

I know I saw one personally, seeing as how I lost my job due to the place I worked at closing a few weeks ago. I'm still a bit bummed and a little angered that I, as well as all the other employees that worked there have not gotten paid yet. Maybe this is the last time I work for an "independent" business, eh? My former place of employment will go unnamed.

Anyway, so how many store closings do you know of? I suppose if any of you know some deals going on, please post them. I could sure use some bargains on just about anything. I know about the following:

-Funky Beat(Clothing store in Kempsville. I'm pretty sure this place opened up in the late 1990s, possibly 1998.)

-Volume CD Exchange(Closing soon. Music store in the Lynnhaven North section. Been around since 1993.)

Yep, were I to work for a small business these days, I would ask for my pay daily, or proof that it was put in an escrow account

Linens and Things is closing its doors forever, so if you need a good deal on towels, bedding or 'things' go there.
I have seen the Bombay Company, Little Me, the Movie Gallery and Mikasa close their doors.
Also, B. Moss, a ladies clothing store in local malls are closing their doors, so if you need ladies clothing, it's a good time to purchase!
That is all I can thing of right now, but I keep hearing that Pier 1 is next. Not sure if this is true or not, but I never see anyone in the Pier 1 near our home.

Speaking of closings anyone think anyone will E-V-E-R buy the old Ames store lot on VB Blvd and renovate that area? It has been vacant at least 10 years.

No kidding and the Rite Aide stores that were newly built and abandoned. Oh and the old HQ on the blvd. as well. Used to be Builder's Square years ago and one of my favorite stores. It's been sitting empty for many years.

There are plans (or were) for the old HQ building and surrounding area but I think the recession has likely delayed or either canceled the plans. Hopefully one day it will get built. You can go here for a view. Choose "On the Boards' then the last project shown on the right named City Walk.

Americans will have to wake up soon. The closing of grocery stores near their homes will probably cause a wave of awareness after the ''sales'' have finished and the store is boarded up. In Detroit the few grocery stores will only take cash, no credit cards any more. Some stores which closed in Detroit say MORE GROCERIES WERE GOING OUT THE BACK DOOR THAN THE FRONT. Which means the thefts will continue so watch your home, your car, your food and anything which someone can get money for. Soon you might have to remove your good jewelry when you go out. In Florida many small and some large stores are boarding up. There are also a lot of homeless in this area. I can't help but wonder if some of the beggers are just AMERICAN families who have lost everything. One financial adviser said he would invest in bullets and rice for the future. Not funny folks.
