You know, that does remind me that I should also add that Verizon's On Demand did seem better than Cox's. They just had a lot more things to choose from, both free On Demand Content and movies they charged for. And the quality seemed a little better. Verizon's on-demand reminded me of DVD picture quality, while Cox is a little better than VHS picture quality but not quite up to a DVD or FiOS level.
But I see what you're saying now Erma, that's still a good deal though. The Cox $99 bundle just includes digital cable, but not the deluxe package of channels. Perhaps my experience was compounded by the fact that I signed up through the door-to-door salesman who didn't offer as good of a deal as you can get if you do your research, and it just got worse from there.

I had direct TV before the basic cable as well. OMG, it was a nitemare, but back then, they didn't have local channels. I was lucky to sell my dish and two receivers to friends who paid me what I paid for the set.

They tried to call my husband a liar for saying he was active duty military and that he was just saying that to get out of the 200.00 early release fee.... SERIOUSLY!!! The rep was totally rude...totally... I had to call back and get another and explain the situation because I thought my husband was going to pop a blood vessel.....
We had cox before and got suckered into directv.... so we will go back to cox.. however the FIOS sounded interesting.... So I typed in our addy there in VA beach and it was a no go... oh well....

When Direct TV came out, they were based out of Arizona and their billing really stunk. NFL ticket Sunday was only 147 for the season back then and the more popular they got, their pricing skyrocketed.

So....
The final consensus is?
Verizon Fios (TV/Phone/Internet) is a better product than Cox?

I just got Fios a week ago. So far I really like it. I had Cox before. I think the picture quality for Fios is much better on the HD sets and worlds better on the regular sets that don't have HD. Internet is fast and the phones are very clear. Plus Cox didn't have voicemail as part of their standard phone service.... weird.
I am paying the same as I did for Cox, but I get the 6 room DVR (I use it in three rooms), and HD in two rooms (the two that have HD sets), plus the rooms that have standard boxes, still get all the channels except for HD, where with Cox they only got up to 70. So Fios is giving me more for the same price and better picture quality. Oh and their On Demand is way better.
