My husband and I are looking to buy a house in Williamsburg. We live in an apartment there now (Regency at Longhill), but we've only lived in Williamsburg for a year and a half now and aren't really sure what the good neighborhoods are.

We're looking in the $200,000 to $250,000 range and really don't want a condo or townhouse. Ideally, I'd like to find a quiet established neighborhood with some younger couples, but with some older people too.

Any advice anyone has would be much appreciated.

Try Chancos Grant off of Ironbound Fox Ridge off Centerville or First Colony off Greensprings Rd., Gatehouse Farms off Neck O Land, Seasons Trace the back part ( not the part where the homes are real close together), Toano Woods. Here and there there have been some great deals. There was a forecloseure in Villages of Westminster that went for $260k..
You say you want established.. If you would consider new there is a new community in Toano where 2400 sq foot homes are priced at under $250k. This is a fantastic price for a detached home of that size... The community will have a clubhouse, pool and other amenities.. It is brand new so construction will take a while for the neighborhood to mature and the trees to grow.. ( no trees at present) If you live here take a drive thru the neighborhoods I mentioned and see what you think.

There is also a neighborhood across from Clara Byrd Baker back behind the Farm Fresh (Village Park??) that seems to run along that price range. Don't know much about the neighborhood itself, but it seems nice. Also check the for sale by owner website.
Good luck!

It's Village Square. There was one foreclosure that sold in the $230's in the past year, all the rest of the sales were in the $260's ..on of my co workers has lived there for a number of years and loves it.
