Way to plug a friend's company, Mr. Real Estate. I'm sure most people would probably like to do business with a more reputable company.

Actually, I practice in Richmond. We used Bay Mortgage when we bought our beach place.

I just completed a buyer transaction with Jim Baldasare of Atlantic Bay. Excellent service, Highly recommend. You might need to negotiate on rates/ cost though. Jim Baldasare, Mortgage Banker | Atlantic Bay Mortgage Group

Susan Cerino-Wright at National City is awesome. She did our original mortgage AND our current refinance.
Mortgage people are VERY BUSY b/c of the rate drops, so definitely shop around.

Busy trying to save all the suckers who overpaid for their boxes, dreaming of high appreciation :-)
My goal is to know as much or more about the mortgage industry before I talk to a mortgage person. Know how they earn their commissions, know that they earn more money if they sell you a loan that is below what you really qualify for.
Kind of like how I've learned quite a bit from the housing bubble blogs and I can see right through what Realtors say.

Use a local company! Do not use Lending Tree. Sounds good but all they are is a lead generating machine and you will have 15 people -not 2-3 call you. You info gets sold multiple time and will be rehashed over the next year. I fell for that and it got to the point we just started keeping a list of the number of people calling. Every lender that call thought they were 1 of only 2,3,or 4 that should have gotten my info. I used Allied Home Mortgage Capital Corporation and they did a great job. Beat the pants off my credit union and Atlantic Bay. The one i used is in Williamsburg but they have offices in Va Beach i think also....good luck...

Local or remote, they both want to make as much money off you as possible. You either know enough to not get scammed or you don't. Do your research! Beat them at their own game.
