Default Housing cost Wburg vs Yorktown?

We're looking to move somewhere between Poquoson/Yorktown and Williamsburg. While looking at listings on homes dot com, the ones in Williamsburg appeared to be less expensive than comparable ones in Yorktown and Poquoson.

But the various community data on relocationessentials dot com shows the opposite - i.e. Yorktown & Poquoson having a lower cost of living than Wburg.

Can anyone please clear up my confusion? Thanks.

Mr. Williamsburg is probably the best source of info on this site. I live in Yorktown near the Newport News border and it's very affordable.

I hear Yorktown is kinda pricey. Depends on where you are there. Williamsburg might offer more selection. I dont like developments or sub divisions, but there are more options in Williamsburg than Yorktown.

Both Yorktown and Williamsburg/ James City County are fairly comparable in home prices if you compare apples to apples. If you look at average home list prices for Yorktown is $443k for Wmbg/ James City County it's $471k. These are averages though. 925 homes available in Wmbg/ JCC and 334 avail in lower York County/ Yorktown/ Dare/ Grafton etc. If you give more specific details I can give more defined comparison. You can buy a 2500 square foot home for prices ranging from $275k to $659k . It just depends on the neighborhood, location, amenities and quality of construction.
