I need to move to virginia beach and have been looking for a decent affordable 2 bedroom apartment but cant seem to find one. They are either too expensive, too small or old and crime infested!
My rent budget is between $1000-1200.
anyone got any recommendation?

Yes the price of apartments gets cheaper the closer to the beach you get in most cases becasue of the stupid jet noise so beware of anything from lynnhaven to the birdneck exits all that area is pretty bad

True but when they fly so low they set off car alarms at 10 pm stupid is the nice term for them. Luckily we just bought a house away from the jet noise, but until we move we have to deal with it. Trust me your ears will start to hurt and ring all the time. It's not something you want to live with if you can avoid it. We were warned before we moved in, but until you've lived with it you have no idea how bad it really is. I just warn people because the jets were here first.

Back to the topic at hand!

Hate to break it to you, but Virginia Beach apartments are either pricey or crummy. You get what you pay for in this city. If you want quality, you're going to pay quite a bit for it. Not to drag on the military, but that is the biggest problem you're going to run into. Around here, the complexes know what the military men and women get in BAH, so they set their prices accordingly.

If you really want to take a look at the crime statistics of a complex, Virginia Beach electronic Police Reports Online would be the system to check.

There is a place called Thousand Oaks off of First Colonial road that are pretty nice for the buck. They are Brick Townhouse like Apts. Some are upstairs and downstairs and the smaller ones are just up or down.

There is some jet noise but not much.
