Good morning! I am new to the Va Beach area as well and I am in search of a good *OBGYN* and ^PRIMARY CARE^ physician. I've read the comments posted...and my question is does anyone know
of the Churchland group in Chesapeake? also does anyone have a specific OBGYN that they like at
Sentara Leigh? I am passed the child bearing phase...smile...but I am looking for someone who is not a pill pusher and a good listener. Any thoughts? Thank you!

EVMS Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine- Margarita de Veciana, MS, MD, FACOG

I had Dr. de Veciana with my last child and she was amazing! She is a diabetes specialist but I am sure they have other high risk Dr. there. She actually stayed with me all day at the hospital and did the perineal massage so I wouldn't tear, a Dr.!!! I was amazed. Oh and I was Tricare Prime.

I think Dr Ted Hughes at The Woman's Care Center is the BEST!! Doctor Hughes awesome. He delivered my two kids, and he seems more like a friend, then a a doctor. You will love him.

I delivered at Leigh and Va beach and liked both, but that was six and seven years ago. Friends and family members of mine since, many have delivered specifically at Leigh, swearing it's the best. I do know my nurse at Va Beach was terrible. She argued with me for over an hour that I wasn't even in labor when I knew I was. Just because I'd taken castor oil. Any experienced mother can tell the difference between labor pains and intenstinal cramps. She also kept telling me I was only at 2 cm and then 3 for about two hours. My doctor showed up and checked me about 3 or 4 minutes after the nurse told me I was at three. He comes in and says I'm at 8. That's a big stretch! She also seemed somewhat annoyed by me when they determined I was in labor, like it was such a big deal that I was wrong. And because of her inability to correct check my cervix and how dialated I was, I got the epidural too late, and started going numb when I was holding my son. Not the best experience. Okay.. now that i just relived that experience, perhaps Leigh would be best just in case that nurse is still at Va beach haha. I LOVED my nurses at Leigh.
