Default Also pondering neighborhoods

I am considering a job offer in Newport News. I read about escalating crime and nothing to do???? I am already in my fifties and not looking for "bars" but I like nice restaurants, shopping, movies, galleries. I will be making over $80K. Where is the most upscale area I can live without over doing it? I have two dogs, who are my biggest entertainment, and I'd like at least a small backyard. I've read about Riverside, Hidenwood, Menchville, Kiln Creek, Port Warwick. Can anyone point me to one or two of the better ones? Can I even afford those?

On $80k you could probably afford all of these neighborhoods. This isnt Northern Virginia . I would kinda lean Kiln Creek because you want a yard and its close to Patrick Henry Mall and City Center.

Thanks Alanboy395. The guy never even returned my phone calls after he asked me to come up for an interview. So, it's all a moot point.
