I agree, he keeps comparing here to New Jersey.....yeah, the point has been made, there are worse places then Hampton Roads....Im failing to see exactly how that makes Hampton Roads good? If you compare two turds, and one smells a little better, theyre STILL both turds.

In reality, I would like to see improvements to the infrastucture of HR, including widening HRBT, widening 64 all the way to Richmond, another interstate or limited access road towards Raleigh NC; this would end the "cul-de-sac" problem of HR with another connection to 95. This is already underway in NC with state route 64 being upgraded from Raleigh heading towards the OBX

It'll be pretty much the same as it is today but with more crime and people. Progress takes a long time around here.
They'll also continue to repave roads that don't need it and neglect paving those that do.

They could really widen military highway too near the Northampton intersection. I live around there and i have to wait AT LEAST 15 minutes to pull out of my neighborhood!
Agreed, the infrastructure isnt that great at all. One broke down car, thats not even in the way and the whole highway gets backed up. I wanna gouge my eyes out sometimes in the summer because of that X10.
man oh man.

I didn't mean the towns the colleges are in, I meant the towns they are originally from. I think the majority of people I know get jobs close to where they are originally from (yes, even in NJ). Some do stay around where they went to school, some go to other places. It's like that everywhere. So does every person originally from Hampton Roads that goes to college elsewhere never come back?

Im sure some do, but none that I know. Every person who I know from my graduating class that left Hampton Roads, either by joining the service, going to college, or simply moving away, never came back. I also know a few who went to college here, and they largely are, or have moved away.
The majority of people who stayed around are beach bums, or they are living with their folks working crap jobs, and pushing 30 years old, or are living with several roommates in rat traps in the worst sections of the area. Nobody that I know who stayed around here could be close to defined as "financially successful".

Dont be so stereotypical. I boomeranged back here after living in several other cities, and I am so-called "financially successful". Out of my group of friends from HR, about 1/3 left for good, 1/3 left and came back, and 1/3 stayed here. A couple of friends hold great jobs, but still live at home, mostly to save money and buy something eventually. Again, dont stereotype everyone according to your circle of friends or aquaintances.
