Question Renting a pod

Has anyone ever moved long distance using a POD? Can you tell me about your experience using one and if you would recommend it. I'm planning on moving from Chesapeake, VA to Las Cruces, NM and thinking about using one. Are they as expensive as a moving company?

I looked into it a few years ago, and it was a lot more than just moving it ourselves. The transport time was an issue as well. I didn't look into a moving company.

I didn't use POD as a moving company but just as storage while hunting for a new house. They were convenient and fairly timely. There are a few hidden costs that suprized me but shouldn't have so you should look at the details closely. They do charge you travel cost when the POD is returned to you (I hadn't thought about that)

Congrats on escaping Hampton Roads.

I always wondered if you paletized and wrapped your stuff, could you just freight it all via a trucking company, or hire a private driver to make the haul.
