Default looking for public beach access to virginia beach

My family & I will be vacationing mostly in Williamsburg in July, but wanted to do a day trip to Virginia Beach & were wondering about public beach access & if there is any place to change?

The VERY best place would be all the way down at the end of Sandbridge - at Little Island.

It's not the "strip" and that is the main pro. The con would be that it is a bit of a drive, but I think it's well worth it.

Here is a map of the area.

There are places to change at Sandbridge. If you want a quieter setting, Sandbridge is wonderful. If your family wants the whole boardwalk/shopping/busy experience, the oceanfront would be your best bet. There must be places to change there, but I don't actually know of any since I go to Sandbridge.

There are large bathrooms and showers right there. Plenty of room inside to change.

There are public restrooms down at the strip, but I'd not use them. The strip is busy and crowded, and just not where I would take my family for the day. For just a few hours of sunbathing and people-watching - sure. But we always prefer Sandbridge. If you want the touristy crowded foul-mouthed (was just at the strip last weekend and the younger crowd was f-this and f-that all around me - constantly) then the strip is fine.
