Default Virgimia Beach Parking Mess

All along the water is no parking except by permit. Went there July 4th, parked 5 blocks from beach in school area and still got a ticket. Would have paid $20 at lots, but they were full. My suggestion: SKIP VA BEACH, and spend the tourist dollars elsewhere, like NJ or NC, areas that are more tourist friendly. I am never going again, and will not recommend to anyone.

And you find this shocking?.....must of been your first time visiting the area on a holiday weekend........It is like that pretty much every weekend at the oceanfront and I am sure it was 10 times worse during the 4th....funny thing is why are you posting it here in the Hampton roads forum.....we already know what problems we have to deal with locally, that is why the locals stay away from the boardwalk/strip area during the summertime....If you think the city treats the tourist bad in the summer time try being a local its 10 times as bad

Exactly. I've lived here one year and figured this out real quick. I had family in town from out of state that wanted to go to the oceanfront.
We parked at the convention center and walked (it was free and didn't get towed). I love the oceanfront after Labor Day and before Memorial Day

As a local, going to the oceanfront on July 4th is a BIG no no. I'm sure it's the same for the NYC locals during the annual ball drop. You just do not go. The hassle far out weighs the benefits.

I don't mind going to the oceanfront as long as I can get my $1 parking after 5pm at the city lots. Other than that I will go elsewhere.

Live and learn, friend. Unfortunately, as others here have stated, that's just the way it is. Some things will never change.
