Twin Canals is NOT military housing; Midway Manor is and that is four miles away from TC. Twin Canals is lower income housing with a bad reputation the last decade.
The military housing in the area around here is decent at Midway Manor and Little Creek but, like every aspect of the military, you have people from all walks of life living very close together.

She never said she was only looking for military housing. And, the only reason TC got a bad rap, is because middle/upper age white folks see blacks around it. I use to be at TC everyday for four years, an the worse thing I saw was two young guys throw few punches. I can't remember every hearing about a murder there within the last 10-15 years, an trust me, it's no the low income, A LOT of people there got money. Landstown lakes/meadows neighborhood, which is a single family homes, mostly white, middle class neighborhood has 67 reported incidents so far this year. TC, has exactly 67 reported incidents also, so it's a fact takin that because people there are darker, ya'll assume its bad. From a white guy to ya'll, don't look down on TC an other areas because its not all anglo-saxson.
Also, a lot of military apartments I been too and lived in a few for a while, is not all that good. You will consistently see people drinking non-stop, and country music blasting at all times, even if you like country music, it will get old fast. Also, military housing typically has a higher count of domestic abuse reports, which you better hope one doesn't live in a apt next to you, as it happend to me once. But he's correct about midway manor, overall, it's the best military housing, on the other hand it has 50 reported incodents so far this year, so you could find better non-military housing.

I call BS, Twin Canal is low income subsidized housing......Period.....Not saying that TC has the worst crime in the city but dont try to make it out to be something it is not......
Funny how you call Landstown lakes/meadows a middle class neighborhood when anyone living in Va Bch for more then 5 minutes knows it has some of the highest crime stats in the city.......If you want to pick out an average middle class neighborhood close to Landstown or TC then try neighborhoods like Hillcrest Farms that shows 19 incidents for the year or maybe Holland Oaks which has had 2 or Holland Pines which has had 6 or Christopher Farms which has had 15.......would you like me to keep going?
Also the number does not tell you everything about the neighborhood, a neighborhood might show 5 incidents but when 4 of those 5 turn out to be a runaway who really cares outside of the family about this issue. But when a neighborhood like TC shows weapon violations, residentiaal burglary, drug/narcotic violations and robbery...well those are the types of crimes that the average citizen in this city is concerned about and tries to get away from....
So feel free to continue with the debate but at least show me something that makes half way sense

I lived in Landstown Lakes pretty much the hole time I was in High School. It pretty much is a middle class, white neighborhood. The problem is, these kids got some money, which affords them to buy drugs, which eventually leads to different crimes. I spent 4 years in TC everyday as my now, fiance, used to live there. It's not a 5 star rental housing, but its safe, I was outside all the time at night, an its cheaper to save money to go do other things. But I'd agree that we have a lot better apt complexes in Virginia beach, just not really any are military housing.

Only thing I loved about Landstown was how muli-cultural it was. The school was mostly black, an also a lot of asians, so you're able to get to know an be friends with all types of people. Other than that, I'm glad be out of high school.

Went there and it wasnt even that bad. Most of that stuff was out of school. It was 43% black 47% white 7% Filipino and 3% Hispanic. Drugs were there, but they're everywhere in the suburbs. The "whiter" schools have it worse.

Not sure about schools, but as far as safe areas go, to me Princess Anne area by Independence is good. As well as the Kempsville area. Great Neck seems like a good area too. Safe places.

Twin Canal is bad. Any neighborhood that has it's own police station is a NO in my book.
