I doubt I ever would. I wouldn't take it shopping cause then I'd have to lug my bags from place to place rather than leaving them in the car. I couldn't take it to work because if my child got sick I would need to go get him, and I wouldn't want to wait for a train. I never go to the oceanfront during tourist season because most tourist are PIA. I guess my question would be when would I take it?

How do you figure? What 'hoodlums' would want to hang out on a train? Think!

Seeing as I do not live in the area, i obviously can't ride it often, but I am excited for the area to be getting a light rail system. I will definitely ride it when I visit the area. I understand the desire to stay in the car and enjoy some privacy, such as music or your own thoughts, but at the same time, if it is somewhat convenient to your schedule why not take it? For every person on the train is one more car off the road at that time. And isn't traffic congestion a problem everyone complains about there? Also the train will most likely not get delayed as much as road traffic. I wouldn't have a problem at night either, I've been on New York and DC subways late at night and never feared for my life.

It's the mentality of people in HamptonRoads. I am from Philadelphia, a much more dangerous city than Norfolk, Newport News, Portsmouth, anywhere down here and rode the subway at night. It's not dangerous. I don't see your guys views, but like I said it's your mentality. People here are auto oriented. They have been used to driving EVERYWHERE, it will just take alittle time for that to change. I think the younger generation will ride much more than the older. Rail is cool. Stop seeing it as inconvienence, danger, hood hangout, whatever you think it may be. All it is is comfortable, reliable option to travel when you don't want to drive because traffic is bad. I'm going to read my newspaper every day on the way to work. Riding a train is much more safe than your car. True or false? You should be more afraid of an accident than some 'hoodlums' on a train.
