October events not to miss
Our family loves fall and Halloween. What fun events are happening this month that we must partake in. Also, we are in Wburg, what neighborhoods are great for to trick or treating? Thanks!

I don't know about trick or treating, but Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream is a pretty big thing around here. An Affair for the Atrs is this weekend at Merchant's Square, Italian Festival next weekend... pick up the Virginia Gazette at any local grocery or quick mart and you can find a run down of weekend activities. Best!

Definitely the Poquoson Seafood Festival. It is Oct 16,17,18 this year and they have a website. There are craft vendors in the woods, entertainment and AWESOME seafood. It is crowded, so time your visit accordingly. I have found that arriving later in the afternoon on Saturday is great.

Not sure how old your kids are but there is a nice pumpkin patch called Pumpkinville out on Rt. 60 like you are going to the Williamsburg Pottery. The patch is on the left hand side of the road. Not sure if it's still there but they usually have a big trailer with the name Pumpkinville painted on the side. They have a corn maze, hayride, some small kids games (all are free). They sell hay bales, corn stalks, several varieties of pumpkins, lots of decorative gourds, potted mums, yard decorations, etc. This is an actual pick the pumpkin off of the vine place, not just pumpkins set out in the fields. Pumpkinville provides all of the pumpkins, corns talks and hay bales to Busch Gardens (they have other fields just for growing).

For trick or treating in Williamsburg try Windsor Forest, Longhill Station or Powhatan Secondary. We second Howl O Scream. We normally go mulitple times each year. if you buy annual passes now you can go this year and next. The closer to Halloween the bigger the crowds. James City County has a Haunted Forest thats always fun and cheap. They moved it to Chickahominy Park this year and combined it with a harvest festival. There is a Corn Maze at Renwoods Fields Farm in Charles City County just a few miles over the bridge on Rt 5. You can go at night for an extra challenge. It took us over an hour to make it through the first time.
