Parking in Norfolk during Halloween
So now is when I miss living in downtown Norfolk just a little...I plan on going out on Granby for Halloween, and my friends and I are just going to stay overnight in one of the hotels. My question is...anybody know if any of the parking garages aren't manned on Sunday morning? Or if they are, at what time?? I'm trying to get away w/o paying I should get there before the vultures charge at the gate like they do on the weekends.
PS When will Norfolk realize you can go to ANY other mall or bar in the area and not have to pay for parking???? It's freakin ridiculous!!

Parking is abundant and reasonably priced in Norfolk. Just park on the street. The meters are free after 6pm on Saturday until 8am Monday.

There's tons of parking downtown. And if i'm not mistaken, there is always somebody in the parking decks or they are locked. No way to escape the Norfolk Parking people. I just got a $15 ticket becasue my meter on granby ran out. It cost 25cents for 15 minutes.
But like mikeas said, it's free at night and sunday.

I used to park in a lot next to Chrysler Hall when I would go to shows at the Norva because the show would usually get out after 11 or 12, and no one would be there at the lot. It worked like a charm and I never paid. I think that lot is now a bulding under construction though.

I think I will do some scouting around...I may get there early enough that there are 'safe' meters left (meters may be free on the weekend but if you've ever gone out on Granby on a Sat night, you'd know how difficult it is to find an open spot)...or I may just park a few blocks away. Since I'm leaving during the day on Sun I won't have to worry too much about safety like I would leaving the bars at night. I'll do a drive-by of the Chrysler lot xGrendelx...I can't keep all the construction spots straight either

I finally sprung for an apartment at the Belmont: http://www.belmontatfreemason.com. Let's just see if my bank account can keep up with all of that easy access to the nightlife (such as it is).

So do you like the new place? I wish those had been built when I first moved to Norfolk...I lived in the Hague for 5 years. Not that the Hague was terrible, but a new place would definitely have been nice!! And you will love living so close to everything...not just the nightlife, but the mall, Chrysler, good restaurants...I miss being able to walk to everything!!
