My husband and I have been stationed here at Fort Hood, TX. and my husband just got orders for Fort Story, Va. We have been searching for a nice house to rent, but everything seems so expensive for what you are getting. If anyone has some names of reputable property management companies, and also maybe some hints on the best areas to live that will not be to far away from post would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Iknow there has been a few months since you posted, but you might be better off looking into aprtments in the area. I spent 18 years of my time in the Navy in Norfolk and lived in Virginia Beach, and most of it was in an aprtment.

For a house your best best is to contact some of the local realtors there, and they will help you out. I rented a condo when I fidst moved there from Jacksonville, FL, and went through a realtor to find it. She was very helpful, and her office did not handle reantals. She spent a full week with me and only got the $50 finders fee from the realtor handling the rental. She was out of the Long anf Foster office down on the beach.

Another option is to contact the housing offices in the area with the military. The Navy office on North Hampton is really helpful, and works with a lot of the aprtments, realtors, and some local owners in the area. I believe they will assist all the services, or would hope so anyway.

Hope this helps, even though it has been awhile, and good luck.

Thank you so much! Any little bit of help I can get is great. We were lucky on our first PCS to Texas, everything fell in to place. But this time it is harder. I may have more questions later if that is ok. Take care and thanks again!!
