Colonial Williamsburg and other Virginia sites are joining a National Endowment for the Arts initiative to offer free admission to active-duty military members and their families this summer.
The Blue Star Museums program includes more than 600 museums across the country offering the deal from Memorial Day to Labor Day, 2010.

Military families have free access to the Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area, Bassett Hall, the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum and the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum.

Nice.

Also, if you're a state or federal employee (not military) you get free admission to Colonial Williamsburg, aswell as other free admission to other parks/tourist areas.

I was in for a nice suprise when I went to Kings Dominion with my friend & her kids & we got free admission because I'm a state employee. It was very nice.

Hey Caroline, do you have more information about the parks being free for state employees? Is there a list some place or do you just ask at the ticket booth?

I believe you either have to call & ask or your department should let you know what specials are available to you.
