Post How are HAMBURG SCHOOLS? Do you like Hamburg?

After much research and consideration my husband and I are seriously considering relocating to Hamburg pa. It is centrally located to family, friends, his work, and more for us. Does any one have any kids there who likes/dislikes the schools? I am curious about stores, library, etc. Are there any parts of town to avoid or that are particularly nice? We love my sons current preschool, and much about the area where we live now but really miss friends and family but we dont want to move our son somewhere where the schools maybe arent as good, or is less safe, etc. MOMS help a mom out and please give me any input as to how you feel about Hamburg and family life there. I really appreciate any input in advance Thanks!

Are you referring to Hamburg which is located in Berks County outside of Reading PA?

You might want to post in the general PA forum. I can't help you with info on the schools but maybe someone else can.

Hamburg is a very tiny little town. I know they still have the old style movie house. Other than that its a couple small corner grocers and thats about it. On the up side the scenery is beautiful and you can see Cabalas from the town. Tons of outdoor/woodsy things to do. Hope this helps

Hamburg Schools are pretty decent schools, nothing great, but not bad. Hamburg itself saw its heyday long ago, and is a pretty depressing town, or a town with a lot of character and stories, depends on how you look at it. I know there were a few drug related crimes recently, for the most part isolated incidents. I graduated from Fleetwood on the other side of the county about 6 years ago, and having visited the school many times for sporting events, I'd say it's pretty similar to my own, most schools that are half rural half suburban are okay. The high school had a heavy upgrade a few years ago, and still looks brand new for the most part. I believe they also have a brand new Elementary Center, which created controversy a few years ago because they closed a few smaller schools, but as a new resident I'm sure you'd rather the great new facility. For any big shopping trips (other than WalMart and Cabela's) you'd be heading down 61 to Reading or I-78 to Allentown, keep that in mind as gas is getting more and more expensive.
