Hi, we are looking to move into the York, Hanover area and want a lake front or Lake view home.
We found a home for sale on Lake Pahagaco that is about 3 mile NW of of the paper mill in Spring Grove.
WE have read/heard about the foul smell from the mill and want to know if the Lake homes have this same problem.
Any Help Please?
Any suggestions on a similar lake front/view within 30-40 min drive of York and Hanover where I am considering a job offer?

I live about 4 miles east of Spring Grove and the smell is hardly present. 10 years ago I would've warned you, but now, its pretty much non-existent. I would not hesitate to buy a home you really like solely based on the smell from the paper mill.

We did go to the Lake on a calm overcast warm day when it would have had the most potential for odor and could not smell any odor. We did go through the town and there was a slight odor of cooked cabbage but not bad, I think I read that the papermill had been upgrading their sulphur dioxide scrubbers in the near past so it must have helped.
thanks for the reply.

I have lived in this area since I have been 5 years old and the smell is in town only. We live across from Lake Pahagaco in Lakeview Heights and smell nothing. Happy hunting!
