Hi All,

Very seriously considering checking out the above areas...need some info. I'm having a really hard time finding rentals online so I can get an idea of where I want to start looking. Trying to get a list together so that when I'm out there looking I'm not wandering around aimlessly without a clue. I'm looking to move into the following:

A 2 bedroom, 2 bath place. I'd prefer a 3 bedroom but will make do with 2. I want someplace SAFE as a first priority, somewhat close to cultural/entertainment activities.

I've looked on apartments.com and realtor.com and a ton of other places but there doesn't seem to be all that much listed online. And some of the places are seriously looking like they need some rehab. I want to live in an area that I can walk around in at 9pm and not worry about getting mugged..lol I'm good with a commute up to 45 minutes for work but no more than that.

Please please please suggest some townhome or apartment complexes to check out. I'm willing to pay more for safety and convenience.

Thanks!! :-)

What is your budget? There's a lot of apartment complexes/townhouses around.

Default Harrsiburg Area Apartments

Here is a list of some apartments in Lower Paxton Area that i would recommend. although there is no perfect apartment, there are always bound to be loud neighbors are kids upstairs jumping around at 4 am. I would personally suggest catalina, my friend has lived there for over 6 years. most of the people are seniors, so it's not crazy and loud. all his neighbors struck me as courteous and polite. i mean all of them. people actually help each other and hold the door open, ample parking. it is close to both union deposit and colonial park highway exits. on arlington ave, behind the cemetary and c.p. diner. the owner lived right there, not out of state and they have at least 2 live in full time maintenance men. if you go to harrisburgapartmentguide.com they have much info and a free booklet mailed to you.

329 S. Arlington Avenue
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17109
Dauphin County

The Brook At Colonial Park
4212 Williamsburg Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17109

Pennswood Apartments & Townhomes
4913 Wynnewood Road, Harrisburg, PA 17109

Springford Apartments
6140-B Springford Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17111

Williamsburg Estates
500 Beacon Dr., Harrisburg, PA 17112

i personally would stay away from lakewood hills, hidden lake, eaglescrest, rustrum center, village knoll, terraces, paxton park. they can be okay, but are over run with shady people, lots of drug deals stuff like that.

Rent anywhere but Tukwila, Washington 98188. I have been here for eight years in the same building,it's always been kind of casual but now it's getting weird. Our maintenance guy is really, really weird. He thinks all the women in the complex are hot for him because of his car, he was trying to hold someone's hand today. He hits on the little girls that move in here. He is clearly a case of arrested development, wears a weird concealed knife around his neck that looks like a cross between a boned fish and thermometer. He whipped it out one day, asking me if I wanted to see his "new toy" His 300 pound wife supports him, while he works a non job in our building, breaking things, snorting the neighbor's dope and revving the engine on one of his two cars that he has purchased by peddling dope. Whatever happened to decent people who care? You can be a maintenance man and still be a decent guy. You don't have to comp for your lack of whatever by being an *******. I used to do maintenance when I was broke and I was nice to people and am not broke anymore, so I know. Obivously he has no education or he wouldn't be doing this. At any rate, he has taken to hassling me, even though I am polite and say hello, good morning etc. He thinks that is a joke, and whenever he is asked to do a basic task in my apartment , he starts acting strange. The apartment manager says, he doesn't like working in my apartment. That's too bad, he is getting paid to do it. I expect a little courtesy and respect, even if he doesn't like his job. So the upshot of this rant is, don't move to Tukwila and don't expect any sort of customer service from the maintenance man. Better to pay a little more and things will stay nice for you.
