If there are any who are originally from Arkansas that can tell me how it was making the move? I live in a small town and a rural area so moving and making that adjustment wont be as tough as it sounds, as opposed to the ones that moved from big cities. Thanks for any input.

Well, I moved here from Las Vegas but was raised in SW Missouri in a very rural area. When we came over here, I thought it did remind me of the Ozarks a lot! Just has a nice ocean and no winter. There are many similarities although I did not find much of the clannishness that I experienced in the Ozarks as one who moved there but wasn't born there and related to half the county.

Thank you for your response! i figured it would be similar. I was reading earlier where people werent used to seeing the same faces everyday and I almost know everyone in town here so it would be an easy transition in that aspect for me. I love the rural area and it takes about 10 minutes to go into town for me although our towns population is around thirteen thousand. I'm just excited about visiting this summer but havent decided which island to visit!

You might like Kauai, esp. if you are retired, bringing work with you or can find one of the very few jobs here. It is very rural/small-town-ish here. Total population of the island is about 60,000 I think, and that's spread between the west side, south shore, east side and north shore. You definitely see some of the same people around, the clerks in the stores, banks and Post Office get to know you (if you go to those places), etc.

Might want to check out this island if that's what you're looking for. (Not much nightlife, shopping, etc. here, though!)

Thanks for the response, but I'm far from retirement haha! I wouldn't right now bc I know I'm not financially or mentally, its a dream that I plan on working on however. Shopping and nightlife such as dining and an occasional movie is what I would want as a option but not a necessity. (Mainly to keep my wife happy) I would like to look into coaching (golf and basketball) and teaching as a job possibility. I've looking into Maui because I saw it was a little more up-tempo but nothing like Oahu. Also I plan on visiting somewhere this summer for a bit. Any suggestions?
