VERY FEW people know the history of the islands. Most people who live here don't understand it's history. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this video. The speaker's name is Keanu Sai. He has a Ph.D. in political science from University of Hawai'i at Manoa.

‪Keanu Sai 1‬‏ - YouTube

After I watched it:
1. I better understand what happened in the past
2. I better understand what is happening in the present
3. I better understand why locals get angry towards mainlanders, even today.

I hope this video enriches your life. I hope you can see the world through the eyes of another person. Please keep an open mind as you watch. Mahalo. Lisa ;-)

When people get involved and research what happened in 1893 they begin to understand how we got to where we are today. The problem begins with the dialogue and it's interpretation amongst historians and present day people. Who is right, who is wrong? What we are all really are sure of is that it was an illegal take over that has still to be reconciled to this day.

Hence today many present day groups of Hawaiian goups and activists all wanting something different but yet the same thing. Attempts to block access to the palace, protests that many people are not even aware of, give us our land back is the cry ... can that happen ... is it just ... what is our own role in this?
