What are some popular card games/board games played in Hawaii?

For example, where I grew up in Michigan...EUCHRE was #1 by far...Michigan Rummy was up there...then games like Hearts and Spades...Poker is a recent big one. EUCHRE dominated at family get togethers and college dorms though.

How about in and around the Islands?

I can't think of a single popular card game or really any game that's popular. cockfighting is the most popular game here. No cards involved.

Pipito is played in Hawaii, especially with Filipinos. I'm not Filipino, but I'm a local guy who likes playing it.

Sounds like Filipino games dominate....how about 'dongits' or 'tongits'....another Filipino card game I often see from the Philippines.

We have folks who like to play croquette which is traditionally the annual Thanksgiving day game although we also play at other times during the year.

For board games, we like The Farming Game which is a hoot, although hard to find at game stores. We also have Trivial Pursuit and Risk but we usually play The Farming Game if given a choice. Settlers of Catan is also good.

There are organized Magic the Gathering games although that's usually the younger groups. There is a group around here who gets together for Scrabble.

If quilting would count as a game, then that would be a popular one.

I've heard of all of these except for 'The Farming Game'.

Is that something that is unique to Hawaii? Or I just haven't heard of it before?

My former next-door neighbor really, really liked to play horseshoes. Especially between 1am and 4am. His nickname was HeeHaw and when he got going with those shoes, you quickly learned why.
