I've heard lots of references to "Stink Eye" and in the travel brochures. Anyone have interesting stories about their encounter with stink eye? Also for anyone contemplating a move to Hawaii, how big of an issue is the stink eye. Are there certain areas you should avoid as a mainlander?

Sure you don't mean "pink eye"? I can't imagine any travel brochure that would highlight stink eye. I get it on occaision, normally from haole tourists. If you're coming over here paranoid, you may as well stay put.

Stinkeye is just a dirty look. I got a lot more of them in my life on the mainland than I do here.

Stinkeye is why Haole's get beat up so much.
If you want to get into a fight, you give um da stinkeye. For good reason.............. Last edited by DDane; 08-30-2007 at 07:01 AM. |

i've seen this referred to before but don't know what it is...the evil eye maybe?...a glowering look cast toward a stranger?...something else?
