Question Suggestions for retiring to Maui

Im retiring in a couple of years. I would love to move to maui, get a small place, rent i guess, cant afford to buy,but big enough for my self. Maybe find a job at nights to help with my income. Do you think its possible for me to make it out there? I want it to work out so much, its just something that I need to work out. Any sugestions would be helpful
Thanks
Tanquerey

May be you should couple with someone! Are you a male of female? I love Hawaii! But I am far from retirement age, may be in 20 years...
I am moving to Honolulu in October to see if I can like it out there- will rent , of course!

We considered retiring to Maui, but found the cost of living, distance from family and cost to visit them was too much. So instead we visit Maui two weeks every year.

one of my husband's relatives is doing just this. She works at a floral shop, rents a little place, and is happy as can be. I think it is doable. Also, you might want to check out the Big island--my understanding is is that it is more affordable than Maui. We have a really great book called "So You Want to Live in Hawaii"--full of great info. I highly recommend it.

Well not on the Kona side, leeward side, the great weather side. Nowadays as expensive as anywhere else in Hawaii.
