Default Best Bank in Hawaii

Im up for a discussion on this since I absolutely hate who Im banking with...BOH. Stupid mom and pop bank project really. Treat everyone like criminals. Placing holds on checks without letting you know first. Ive had 2 incidences where I deposited a check and expressly asked, will there be a hold on this check? And I was told in both cases, no. But then come to find out that the midnight authorizers pulled a 180 and placed a halt. Who does that?

Thats part of the reason why Ive kept my Wells Fargo account.

BOH is a joke.

I have zero issues with BOH.
I did have the lengthy hold stuff done to me until I had the account established though. That was several years ago and only lasted about a month.
Now, I can deposit any amount and the teller automatically gets it added to the account. I can also cash an out of state check with more than my account balance (I don't keep much in the checking account) with no issues. There must be more to your story.

I also have zero issues with BOH. Do they adhere strictly to their standards? Yeah, I guess so. But would I want a financial institution that did any less? No.
No problems that were not addressed and taken care of promptly in twelve years. I'd say that was a darn good record.

No pilikia with Blank of Hawaii, however, after over 30 years with FHB, I finally understood why their own people often refer to it as Worst Hawaiian Bank.

Aloha and okoledakine

I hated BOH as well - numerous problems with them. I was getting ready to switch everything over to First Hawaiian, but ended up moving off island

Not only no problems whatsoever with Bank of Hawai'i, but actually an abundance of great experiences.

JW Polk surveys tagged them Best Bank in America (Customer Satisfaction) two years running, and I agree.

We use a local credit union and adore them. They now hold the mortgage on our new house and they won't sell it to anyone else. It's written in the documents that they will service the mortgage for the life of the mortgage. They also know our name and have our account already pulled up before we get to the counter. They help us with any financial inquiries we have. Total joy to work with.
