Hi Everyone,
I'm planning to take a one month work/vacation to write. Where should I stay on the Big Island? Hilo? Or Kona? I'm at a loss. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! |

Depends on what you want. Kona is hot and dry. Great for hanging out at the beach.
Hilo is rainy with trade winds. Lush tropical jungle and a mellow laid back atmosphere. Other nice spots are Waimea, Pahala, Honokaa. |

My favorite spot I lived on the Big Island was Waimea. I find most of the island a little too steamy for me and liked the cooler climate. Hapuna is right down the hill and Kona is a pretty easy drive. When we moved back this last time, I wanted to live in Kona Palisades but my partner was set on Hilo so Hilo it was. He loves rain.
