HI; This is a what do u think and from those who are going thru this or gone thru please respond honestly >>>>
My husband has applied for an Auto Body Tech position in Kailua Hi.. from the Grand Rapids Press (Mi) .. Appears to be much interest over his resume! Trying to not loose sleep over the anxiety. Have heard many stories...main concerns over housing and acceptance (were in our early 50's no kids at home) Been reading about some having problems with race ... He is (white/cherokee>> green eyed) I am (white/Irish, German and Dutch) I am very friendly people person and love animals. Respectful and honest kind of people but like my space!! Right now we live in Central Mi. and in a small rural area (love that!) PPL are way when driving by>>> ... Can handle some city but after that let me go home after that.. We dont have to have the best of everything nor everything right now we actually we have a rather simple lifestyle ... Don't like the winters here anymore! Most our family live in or around Mi.. been thinking of a change for sometime umm sorta adventureous... ... sorta scared of what might lie ahead at the same time~ Thanks Last edited by scirocco22; 09-08-2007 at 01:39 PM. You are speaking of Kailua on Oahu and not Kailua - Kona on the Big Island?
I would venture a guess you are. ![]() We love the Kailua area, and you do seem to have a great attitude /friendly/ down to earth personality. A definite plus when living in Hawaii. As a matter of fact, we chose Kailua over all other areas, but due to budget concerns and land desires, we ended up on the Big Island- building our home on 1 acre in a nice development. Please due visit before a decision is made. If you decide yes (and once your settled in ) make the time to enjoy Hawaii - your favorite beach, etc.etc. It has been our experience that you get caught up in the mundane hub-bub of life after awhile and forget where you are !! |

I'm scared of the move myself, and I think you'd have to be a little nuts not to be. It's a HUGE change. On the other hand I got cold feet before my last few moves and they all ended up fine. Its easy to read some of the negative threads here and get a little paranoid. I could tell you all about my best friend who was on a corner in Chicago and got someone's brains blown all over her during a driveby....BUT, I grew up in Chicago till I was 9, moved back when I was 18, and had the time of my life, nothing bad happening except maybe that winter we had the blizzard and couldn't go anywhere for a couple weeks. We are all different and percieve things differently and are going to have different experiences. I wish you the best of luck in your move, let me know if you land on the big island, maybe we can go shopping =)

... Hi Genxor! The auto body shop that is interested in the resume is on Kalihu Kona at least that is what Manta gives as info on their site. Matched the phone # etc. (that was the addy given so added up to KONA .. why is that worse than Oahu or just different lifestyle than the other? One thing if I got this right is Kalihu Kona is "more the older Hawaii?!" Another concern is weather conditions Hurricanes and Tusami warnings~ And beleive it or not this body has never seen the inside of an airliner lol ![]() thanks very much on your insightful perspective it was very helpful! So far one of the best through replys~ Val |

Yes, Val, I love moving! Besides the anxious panic I get, it gives me the opportunity to cleanse my pack rat ways and get rid of clutter that others usually can use. Things have changed a bit since I have 3 kids depending on me now, but not too much suprisingly. They have a play room full of toys that mostly collect dust. Other than the Legos (which used to be mine) and the other building and creating things, usually the rest gets crushed underfoot.
Yes I can believe you have never been on a plane. Have you visited the islands via cruise? I HATE flying lol, but its become a necessary part of life. I order a vodka cranberry and turn up my tunes on my mp3 player, and hope for the best. My friend, I hate to say it was a good thing, because nothing that horrific can really be good. She was doing drugs and really getting off course, and, what happened to her actually ended up straightening up her life. I will be moving to the big island either in November or January. December flight prices are crazy! |
