Ewa Girl is on a distinguished road
Again: titled: Silver Man

I was probably 8 or 9 years old when this happened. We were playing in our backyard during new year's eve, doing the usual popping fireworks. our backyard faced our neighbor's back yard, they had a huge tree in their yard. I watched as our neighbors lit aerials and watch the sky draw out flames of color. it was then that I noticed a silver man climbing my neighbor's huge tree! I asked my friends if they could see it? They said No. I swear it was like transparent shiny silver and it gave me the goosebumps! I never go out alone in the backyard at night again!

manoagirl will become famous soon enoughmanoagirl will become famous soon enough
I remember as a kid being awaken many times by a sound of a shovel and the sound of digging near my bedroom window. When I got up to look who it was I never saw anything only hearing the sound of someone digging a grave and hitting rock with the shovel. It was strange because it was loud, then when it would rain in Manoa I recall the smell of a chemical in the air. As I got older and took some science classes I recognized that smell to be a chemical called phermeldahide other wise known as embalming fluid.

Ewa Girl, those are some good ones!!!! Just driving by the old Ewa sugar mill used to give me chicken skin! Could almost see it 40 or 50 years ago, folks working, trucks loaded with cane coming in, and now, it really does look like a graveyard!!
Was talking to a buddy of mine, he's an electrical contractor, was doing a big house for a mainland haole multimillionaire, down by Makenna, and right next to Five Graves, a popular dive site with five actual graves on it. Don't know how the owner got a permit to build that close, but he did,,, liittle kala, as in money, under the table over here goes a long way. Anyways, my buddy finished his work some 4 months ago, everything passed, wiring, circuit breakers, alarm system, no problems. The owner shows up, real arrogant jerk, in my buddies opinion, to stay with his wife and a few friends for a week. There first night there, the lights start flickering, then everything goes dead. The house has an emergency generator that is supposed to go on automatically, it doesn't. The owner, now ALL PO'd, calls my buddy, demands that he come down right now and fix the problem, my buddy lives Upcountry, assures the owner that the house passed, must be something else, but will come down in the morning just to check. He's getting ready to leave, phone rings, it's the owner, says the power came back on just as the sun was rising, no need to come down,, soooooooooo, that evening, shortly after sunset, another call from the homeowner, powers out, AGAIN, generator won't come on, AGAIN, and the security alarm is making a really odd sound. Well, my buddy did go down the following morning, everything was working properly, no shorts, no tripped circuit breakers, alarm system functioning properly, everything was A OK. That evening, shortly after sunset, same thing, except this time one of the guests is certain she saw someone near the closet where the circuit breakers are located when the lights went out.. This happened all week, the owner, upon leaving, asked my buddy to stay in the house a few days, and report to him what happened. Well, he's more than happy to stay in a mansion on the beach with his wife and kids for a few days......and guess what?????? NOTHING HAPPENED!!!!!!!!! Think the spirits in the graveyard don't want some rich mainland haole a little to close to their resting place ? The owner is due back in a few days, will keep you posted.

Aloha.

Makena definitely has some "mana" to it. I was working on the Makena Surf project back in 1981, the developer hired some Hawaiian guys to do security work at night, and they lasted one night, just too much wierd stuff going on. And building a condo/resort between two Heiaus probably wasn't the smartest thing to do. I was hangiing doors there one day, using a Senco finish nailer, didn't have my finger on the trigger, wasn't pressing the gun against anything, it goes off, gets me right in the hand with a 2 1/2 inch finish nail. Funny thing, I was working in one of the units right next to the fenced in Heiau, maybe just coincidence??????????

Aloha

I wouldent call this a legend its more like the many occurences at the pali.this can happen to any one regardless if you have pork or not I think.
any who I trully beleive this is fact and not fiction.
My mom had owned a hawaiian food restaurant a while back and was going over the pali with a can juice box full of kalua pig.
intentionally driving over to deliver the food from town side 2 a friend's
house. The car suddenly breaks down mid way thru while she's driveng and has no choice but to pull over. She then sat there in the car trying over and over again to get the car started but not even close.she then remembered that
if it's any thing that's gonna get that car started it's gonna be those preperated delicious portions of pig.She then grabbed the hawaiian sun box full of pork gave it the old heave Ho over the gaurd railing into the forrest like Land. And just like that the Car started up like a charm..my mom is 1 who is known to take very good care of her Cars.that same car had a long life and never gave her problems after that.

The Islands are filled with spirits! I used to work in an office that used to be a hospital and all the time stuff happened--things flying across the room, voices calling your name, shadows on the wall, items moving by themselves, things disappearing. One time my purse disappeared only to reappear later on. Someone heard a voice calling their name but no one was around so she left the office in tears. Footsteps in the hall when no one was around; babies crying. One time, people were falling down for no reason and getting hurt (myself included). Others who had the ability could see the spirits roaming the hallways. "Funny" feelings in certain areas of the building.

We've since moved and things have gotten a lot calmer now!

Interesting that you should mention falling down and getting hurt. We just moved into a new office building in Kapolei, and a gal in my office was in the parking lot and said she turned and fell down for no reason and got hurt. Didn't show up for work for a few days. She still can't figure out how she fell down. Coincidentally, the ceiling light fixture above her work area doesn't work anymore, despite the fact that it's a brand new building. Plus, something shut the manual light switch off about 10 feet in front of her the other week, and no one was standing there.

On Oahu, in 1959, I was a little girl and my family was coming home from a luau at my Uncle Blacky's house in Waianae. In those days the freeways hadn't been built yet and we had to go over the Pali Road to get to Kaimuki to drop off my other uncle before going home to Kahala. Now it is called the "Old" Pali Road and is closed off to traffic.

We had a bunch of luau food packed up in the car to bring home, including kalua pig. We were on our way down the road heading into town and the car stalled. My father got out and checked everything and everything seemed to be alright, but the car still wouldn't start. My other uncle that was riding with us, finally said to get rid of the pork.

My sister set the package of pork outside the car. My father turned the key and the car started right up. My uncle jumped out of the car, grabbed the package of pork, jumped back in the car, my father went to take off and the car stalled again.

My uncle put the pork back out of the car. My father started up the car, my uncle jumped out, grabbed the pork and away we went....
only 1 foot and the car stalled and died again.

After several more trys, and failing to bring home the kalua pig, we finally just left it and went home without it.

Auwe!
We were sick that we had to leave all of that food, but .... no can help. Auntie Pele says no, then no it is.

Years ago a friend of mine used to work the night maintenance shift at Prince Kuhio Plaza in Hilo. He is a techie kinda guy, not into spirits or anything along that line. They had "lunch" at midnight so they'd go over to Safeway which stayed open 24/7 to get lunch stuff. After they came back, he saw "a jogger" in the mall hallways over near where Liberty House used to be. He didn't know who the guy was, just looked like an ordinary guy but nobody was supposed to be in the mall except the maintenance folks. My friend got up to just within speaking distance of the "jogger" when the guy turned into the doorway of Liberty House and was briefly out of line of sight. When my friend got to the doorway of Liberty house the big metal gate was across the doorway and there was nowhere the guy could have gone, but he wasn't there anymore. My friend does not believe in ghosts, so it couldn't have been a ghost but he doesn't have any explanation for what he saw.

A different friend of mine used to drive the van for Glenn's ghost tours and he said Glenn was a gentleman and a scholar. Told wonderful stories and one evening they went out to Makapuu and along the cliff there were some sort of blinking construction lights up along the pali. My friend went out there the next day and it was nothing but sheer cliff face with no place for construction possible at all. Nightmarchers? That would be a bit more than most folks would expect on a ghost tour!

Oh, and the graveyard on the Ewa side of TGI Friday's near Thomas Square in Honolulu? It's not haunted. However, there is a ghost waitress in TGI Friday's who will come take your order and then never been seen again.

You guys are great been reading forums for two days now. Coming over to the BI in a month.... great info. Kinda a ghost story but maybe you can help. I have learned in my life ghosts are here - from seeing my first 15 yrs ago at Mt Rainier when i didn't believe to my father dieing last spring and Wow he was with me for 2months... tell later if someone wants to know those stories.
My story here maybe some one can help me with ..... 1998 I was in Oahu working in/Red Hill construction project. I stayed in town... one evening doing the tourist thing went to (forgive me if I say wrong memorey) Royal Hawaiian Hotel - the pink one on the strip.... Soon as I walked on property got very heavy heart. I felt such despair , betrayal, death, guilt, overwhelming death. I went through whole hotel... partner at time asked if info on wall of a woman killed there in hotel was it - no it was much worse. I felt weighted just wanted to cry and breakdown. I ended up finally running off the property-- soon as I hit sidewalk of next building fine.
Someone told me when I arrived back mainland that the last (princess/queen) was held captive there and made an agreement with captiveties in thinking she was protecting Hawaiians instead ended being the end for Hawaiians life how they knew it to be....... When I heard this that is the total feeling I felt of emotion. I couldn't/wont ever step on that property again. Just wondering if the info was correct about property? Either way felt like an extrem evil site to me......
