It's funny, because if I had all the money in the world I would not want to live in a fancy neighborhood with a bunch of attorneys and CEOs. I would choose somewhere in downtown for convenience... maybe on the Punchbowl slopes. Build a nice modest sized home with beautiful finishes and a rooftop deck with great views of the ocean during the day and city lights at night. If I did get filthy rich, I think I would want to live around normal middle income people. Don't know why... maybe I'm just weird? One thing true about Hawaii is there are often very, very rich people living amongst middle income people in middle income neighborhoods. I think it has a lot to do with the high concentration of Asians in our state. Many of them live well below their means but are yet very happy with their lifestyle. I bet there is a lot more wealth in the households in Honolulu vs the wealth in many communities in California - even if they have much larger homes and fancier cars. It's like people in Hawaii don't have anything to prove. That's one of the things I love so much about this place - people here are a lot less materialistic than people in California. Not sure if this holds true when compared to other states though.

That is sooo true. That is what I love most about the Hawaiians too. They aren't plastic and superficial. I'm too much of a hippy.

Default Waimanalo

A house right on the beach in Waimanalo. Why? One of the most beautiful beaches in Hawai'i. Sunrises. Moonrises. Practically empty on the weekdays. Totally laid-back. Still plenty Kama'aina around.
