Kauai............21............36..............-41.7%
Maui.............81............100............-19%

(August single-family homes...condo sales were also down on all islands except Maui, which was up 55.1% from 2006.)

It will be interesting to compare the combined August/September numbers to the same time period for 2006. It is hard to know how many closings may have been delayed in response to the changes in the lending industry. I'll post September numbers when I get them....

to me it seems that houses in the kailua, o'ahu area are sitting on the market for a very long time. not like 6-12 months ago when there was little inventory. when i take my daily walk, i see the same houses for sale. i'm not an expert like cynmkolohe, but it's just by observation.

no, i wasn't imagining it. the houses that i was talking about have been on the market for more than 93 days. there were 3 listings on or in the vicinity of my street that have been listed for short periods of time, one is pending and five listed between 92-264 days. i did the math and the average would be as you said, "93 days." like i said, i am not an expert in this area, it was just a matter of observation.
