Guam: approx population 185,000 x 16 cans EA = approx 3 million cans. Hawaii: 7 million cans.
10 million cans between just those two! Amazing.
Amazingly bad for you.
[LEFT]Spam is well known for providing a convenient source of meat in a can, yet it is rarely considered a healthy food choice. Spam offers a variety of meats, some of which have a better nutrition profile than others. By examining the specific nutritional information of Spam's lineup of products, you can choose the Spam product that comes closest to meeting your individual nutritional needs. Classic
According to Nutrition Data, Spam's classic luncheon meat provides 174 calories per 2 oz. portion. Each serving provides 15 g fat, 2 g carbohydrate and 7 g protein. The caloric distribution is 79 percent of calories from fat, 17 percent from protein and 4 percent from carbohydrate. This makes Spam a very high-fat food.Additionally, each serving contains 6 g saturated fat, which is 28 percent of the daily value. Diets high in saturated fat may increase risk of heart disease, according to MedlinePlus, a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
One of the greatest mysteries about Hawaii: Hawaii is noted as the number one consumption locale of Spam.

Guam's consumption of 16 cans per year each makes Hawaiians look like Spam amateurs!
And people wondered why I questioned Guam as a good place to take culinary training?
Good thing my posting rightly said #1 consumption locale of Spam, not #1 per person consumption.
Anyone who can come up with an edible recipe for Spam deserves a gold star in my book .... that stuff just seem like a mystery-food to me. But, I'm sure when there are millions and millions of cans being sold, my little 'ol opinion means nothing in the big picture.
MMMMM Spam...the only way I can eat it is when Hubbydiver browns it and then makes an omelet with 'shrooms, Swiss Cheese and Maui onions and puts the browned Spam on the side. Ketchup is mandatory and I push it around with multi-grain toast. MMMMM can't wait for morning now!
