StillHope is on a distinguished road
Default Moving from San Diego to Puna

Hi,everyone!
I've learned and been helped so much since I join this forum. Thanks again. Recently some information about moving costs from mainland to Hawaii has been posted.
I have to make a very hard decision on what to take with me.
I hope to get some details about the costs.
A lot of people say that it's cheaper to buy again than to ship.I am only sure about my vehicle. It has to be shipped ,since it is the collateral for the loan I got from the bank.
I don't have really fancy stuff or collectibles, but I don't want to sell my 2 year old front load washer and dryer which I paid about 1600 dollars for couple of hundreds to buy a cheap ones .My problem is that I am coming to Big Island with a loan to pay and the job(I'll be transferred) that pays 10-11 dollars an hour. And I am not young anymore.
I'll continue to work7-8 shifts a week, but I will not be able to replace the good quality things that ill last me for a very long time.
But I am a realistic person .If the shipment will cost almost the price of a new things...
Anyway ,can anyone can give me some practical examples of how much certain things cost to ship?I heard some stuff you can ship yourself through post office.
Which company is the best-Matson or Horizon Lines?
I would appreciate any help.Thank you for your time.
StillHope.
