trying to keep it lighthearted here!
if you need your big island candies fix, check them out online.
p.s.
hope your hawaiian recipes turn out. jungjohann said he used cabbage leaves instead of the requisite ti and/or banana leaves. "instant kalua/cabbage.!"

well hank, kailua is dismal today and will be for the next couple days. the entire state is under a flash flood watch until then. it poured cats and dogs last night with a lot of thunder and lightning. had to make sure i did a body count of all my "kids"--four dogs and four cats. ended up sleeping on the couch with the smallest dog while the other 3 slept in either the living room or kitchen. big chickens!

Eh,
If you no more Hawaiian chili pepper water for that kalua pork, den you stay missing out. You can buy the seeds from UH, they germinate really fast, and are way up there on the Scoville scale, as in, REALLY HOT!!!!!!! Once they get growing, especially here in Hawaii, it's kind of like stand back. Got some growing on my lanai, they're flowering for the third time this year. Luckily the birds haven't discovered them yet, or could that be caused by my cats snoozing on the lanai table????????
Aloha and okolemaluna

you know, i told you that they are addictive, right? well, i knew i should have eaten just one (yeah, right!) of the dark chocolate candies but ended up eating four. well, i paid for it with a chocolate induced migraine! still have some of the affects this morning. you know what? the pain was worth it! at least i didn't get the nausea.

When my partner and I used to go for a visit to Kauai (each visit getting longer and longer each time... ) we would get off the plane in Lihue, drive straight to Long's and load up on chocolate covered macadamia nut candy, drive then to our condominium, check in, and pig out. Never gained weight, either! THAT happened when we finally moved there for good!

lol, kimo! but, if you want some onolicious (better than delicious) chocolate covered mac nuts or shortbread dipped cookies, you just gotta try the big island candies. oh yeah, mrs. field's went and copied the shortbread cookies--not as good and she was slapped with a lawsuit. wonder whatever happened to that case?!

in regards to a previous post: kailua high school's athletic program IS providing a thanksgiving imu for those who want to cook their turkey or other meats in a traditional hawaiian way. drop-off from 3-430pm on 11/21. pick-up 11/22 from 8-930am. $15 per tray up to 25lbs. they had to put the poundage limit in there so jungjohann wouldn't bring over his 300lb pua'a (pig). think he'll be doing his in the oven?!

I don't ever want to see another Macadamia nut in my life!!!! I was doing interior carpentry work on the Tropical Plantation building in Waikapu with three other guys a number of years ago. We're working 16 to 18 hour days, because the building was behind schedule and the grand opening date was looming ever closer. The inventory for the store started showing up, including every variety of mac nut imaginable. It's late at night, we're starving, so we start grinding on the mac nuts. We ate a WHOLE bunch of them!!!! Slight drawback, unknown to us, mac nuts, although very tasty at the time, are also a diarrhetic!!!!!!! Auwe!!! Lolo kukaenui!!! Thank God the tiolets were installed and working, because they saw plenty of use that night.........And 300 pound pua'a are for keikis, 500 pounds, now we're talking some serious pork!! Heck, I might just catch this Axis deer that's been hanging here at night, and park its okole in da imu!
Aloha and okolemaluna, nice and sunny this morning
