Anyone know where in Hawaii is this place?
If you haven't seen the movie Descendants, it's a scene where
Matt King (George Clooney) takes his daughters and Sid to Kauai.
It's logical to assume Kauai but I'm not sure if it's on another island as well.

Here's an interesting article about this location. The photo is almost identical to the one used in that movie poster. :

Quote:
It’s an actual private ranch on Kauai’s southeast shore. It’s about 10 miles south of Kauai’s airport at Lihue & adjacent to the Huleia National Wildlife Refuge.

Locals know it as either Lihue Plantation or Kipu Ranch. Or is it Kipu Plantation and Lihue Ranch? Many variations are used.

If you go on the 3 hour ATV tour at the Kipu Ranch you will go to this location. It is absolutely beautiful! If you take the 4 hour ATV tour you get to swim in a water fall and swing off a rope into the river at the same location Harrison Ford did in Raiders Of The Lost Ark. Either tour, wear old clothes because you WILL get muddy.

Here are a few pictures I took there. The first is a monument that is located behind and to the left of where George Clooney is standing in the OP picture.

This area is indeed on the SE side of Kaua'i, on inaccessible private land. it is generally called Kipu Kai. If you sit in the left side of the plane to Kauai (seat A), you can often see it from the air just before landing. Note that on the ATV tour, you go to the spot where the actors are standing (the lookout) and not down to beach. The river in McFrostyJ's pics is not at Kipu Kai, but some beach scenes in Jurassic Park were filmed at Kipu Kai. The beach is public, and you can get there by private boat, but he land is patrolled and you will be asked to leave if try to leave the beach. Here are some photos of kayaking there:

Very true. Where they are actually standing is on the other side of a gate. Right before that gate you walk up a little trail and that is where I took the first two pictures from.

McFrostyJ,
On this tour, since it's a 3 hour tour, does the tour guide give you plenty of time to take pics and enjoy the scenery for a bit or are you on a quick stop and take a few pics and then head on to the next stop. My family is a huge fan of the movie and would love to just soak in the scenery and take lots of pics

I love taking pictures, even though I am not very good at it. From what I remember there was plenty of time to take pictures on both the 3 and 4 hour tour. They also explain about how some of the movies were shot. For example, in Raiders Of The Lost Ark you see Indiana Jones swing out into the river, then swim to a plane and fly away. However, the river there on the Kipu Ranch was too small and the airplane couldn't take off. So when Indian Jones lands in the water, he comes up on the other side of the island in the Wailua River seen in the picture below.

There are a lot more stories they share with you on the tours including many about Jurassic Park and Pirates Of The Caribbean.

Wow, that river in the pic almost looks like it's in Central or South America.

Since that's the case, did you catch the other article by the same guy, listing ALL the locations used in the film?
