Thought the Ali'i were supposed to memorize this, No ka Moe ‘ana o nā Ali‘i Nui....

Take the 'O'o, an unusually beautiful but now extinct honeycreeper, which was prized by Big Island natives for a couple of small tufts of bright yellow feathers that punctuated their predominantly black bodies.
Ok look would you like to compare who had the biggest impact on the aina, four legged, two legged and everything else since before 1776 and after? The ancient hawaiians have nothing on european contact to current.

You need to read some history books. The people who stumbled on these islands did far more damage than modern mankind.

Oh really, want to bet on that? And what are you defining modern as?

Uh. Since I actually live here - I was awoken by my iphone. Watched the news on cable on my Samsung TV. Got in my Lexus to drive to work. Drove on a Interstate Highway (at least that is what they call it). Worked on my Dell computer. Went to Subway for lunch. Got some Diet Coke at the mini-market for the afternoon. Used Microsoft Office software. We spoke English in all the meetings. Sang Happy Birthday to someone. Drove home stopped at Chevron for gas. Went to Safeway to pick up some wine (California), beer (not Kona), shrimp, cat food, etc - I've yet to experience anything different than a typical mainland day.

Oh wait. The gas was $4.38/gallon - so you got me there.

How were those beaches in Chicago, say, after the Bears lost one at home?

Clearly when we need a 80's history lesson regarding Hawaii, you'll be ready to pull out a YouTube video. When it comes to 2014 in Hawaii you are clueless.

And no, you aren't special at all. Agreed.
