Nanawale, Leilani Estates and Pahoa
Are these in the Lava 2 zone? Anyone get bank financing here and if so, how were your terms?

Nanawale and Pahoa are Lava Zone 2, Leilani is Lava Zone 1.
Google Earth has a great overlay that you can use to check on this.
Here is the link to the page that explains it: Using Google Earth to determine Lava Flow Hazard Zones for Hawai`i County
You have to have Google Earth on your computer, then you click on the link in the section below:
This Volcano Watch Article announces the release of the first Google Earth mapping file made available by HVO: one that displays Lava Flow Hazard Zones for the County of Hawai`i on the Google Earth base. If you can find your house or even your neighborhood on Google Earth, you’ll be able to use this overlay to see what Lava Flow Hazard Zone you are in. Install Google Earth if you haven’t already done so and click on http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov/hazards/lavaz...azardZones.kmz to view the Lava Flow Hazard Zones for Hawai`i County.
When the screen zooms in to the Big Island, you can point to the dots for a few subdivisions to get oriented, then use the tool bar in the top corner to zoom in on the area you are interested in...it can get down to street names.
Disclaimer: This is intended for general use and you should still thoroughly research any property you wish to buy with the appropriate agencies!
DM me if you would like the names and numbers of a few lenders who could answer some of your questions regarding financing and lava zones...

Look around half these cheap lots seem to be owned by the brokers speculating. Hoping for some trusting Continentals to sell to imho.

Parts of Nanawale are lava zone 1, I think, depending on which part but perhaps I was thinking of distance to the fire station instead? The distance to a fire station will affect the price or availability of your insurance.
Nanawale has CCR's as does Leilani.
If you were planning on moving to Hawaii, I'd suggest renting and living in the areas you are interested in for at least several months before buying. Living for several months would give you lots of time to look around for the spot you'd like the best. Our areas are very different from each other and even from one side of a sub division to the other, things (even the weather) can change. If you have to find employment, the distance to that would also make a difference.
