I just discovered this awesome paraphrase of the New Testament. I bought a copy in Wally-World yesterday. It's accurate and was overseen by Wycliffe Bible Translators. I guess if you don't understand Pidgin you might think it's disrespectful but I think it's amazing. I got a copy for my pastor at Branford Evangelical Free in CT. He reads all kinds of Bibles, Greek, etc. I know he will enjoy it.

For anyone who wants to become comfortable with the Pidgin dialect - and I sit beside someone who goes from retired-Army-officer-speak to pidgin at the drop of a hat (or the ring of the phone) this is a great way.

They have a website Da Hawai`i Pidgin Bible

It's easy, as a haole to criticize (way too easy for some) the local dialect but I think you need to examine your heart if you think negatively about it.

So... has anyone used this translation?

Just wanted to drop a comment. I checked it out. I haven't heard Pidgin. I read several passages. Being as familiar with the passages I read I thought it was easy to understand. I think it is amazing! Even not knowing what it actually sounds like I can get a better idea of what it may sound like by reading the passages I knew. It seems like it is English language based and shortened sort of. Can't way to hear it in person. Loved reading some of it and I think it's a great idea to do the translation. Don't have anything to offer about using the translation. Thanks for the share!

It's easy to hear a taste of pidgin no matter where you are. There are a number of YouTube videos featuring people speaking pidgin. Just search the index.

Gack! I'd guess whoever did that wasn't a native pidgin speaker.

My thoughts too. Or, maybe it was a miss between what was being "said" by the pidgin speakers, and whoever was trying to get it into writing.

If you want to "hear" this book, just search for the title on YouTube.

My impression of the book: To each their own in what they want to put their efforts.
