My employer is providing me with a phone for work. Who has the best reception around the islands especially in the Ewa Beach area? It won't be used that much but if my internet dies I need to use it as a hotspot. Data transfer speed and wireless signal is important. TIA!

Most of my coworkers are not happy with Verizon, and when we do side by side speed tests over the LTE networks, my ATT phone is much faster than Verizon for internet browsing. I've yet to hit a single dead zone with ATT on Oahu.

On island AT&T seemed better for me as well, the only spot I had trouble with their service I can think of is on Nimitz under the interstate near the airport, and that's a really brief interruption at worst. I had Verizon years ago there and it never worked right (it may be better now, but as of right now ATT is nearly flawless), calls wouldn't go through and I'd get phantom texts and voice mails days later. In Southern California and Seattle, though, Verizon was much better than ATT in my experience.

I have never had an issue with Verizon. For anything. 4G works fine here and I even turn off the 4G and use at 3G which is fast as well. I do that to save battery usage which is a phone issue not a verizon issue. I used to have Tmobile and could not get great reception inside bathrooms at work (yes, you need to know that) or rooms with no windows. But with Verizon I do. The only place i cannot i've noticed recently is the new newly built bathrooms on the ground level at ala moana center. Those bathrooms are deep inside the bowels (no pun intended) of the lower level. A few friends I know had issues with AT&T or Tmobile and of course you will find people who say they've had issues with Verizon, but obviously ones mileage may vary. Go with the one that offers you what you need. Obviously there are pleased customers of both services.
