Big Island Golf
Anyone from the Big Island know anything about available golf/public courses on the BI? I'd like to play on a regular basis - not the high priced tourist/resort courses - but play everyday like I can on the mainland. Are public courses - with memberships - available in Hawaii - and what are the approx prices?
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking for more affordable golf on the big island, but it looks like mostly resort courses ($100/round). Ouch.

There are 2 courses on Hilo side; Hilo municipal, Hai Hai St. 18 holes, $39-$44 fees and Naniloa, Banyan Dr. 9 holes, $40-$45.

There is also golf at the Volcano Golf & Country Club (VGCC)... VolcanoGolfShop.com Online Proshop (Vistor rate posted, call for resident/member rates)
And if you were to decide to live in Waikoloa Village, you would have "property owner" rates: Golf Course - Waikoloa Village

There are several affordable courses on the Bid Island if you get the Golf Hawaii Card. Go to www.hawaiigolfdeals (broken link) for details. On the Kona side there are Big Island CC and Makelia CC. For locals these are onlt $25. With the card they are aroubd $50 for unlimited golf. Volcano and Wiamea are also on this card. Punaluu course is cheap but you get what you pay for. Ten years ago it was in fair shape. However if you just want to get in some golf on a very scenic course and don't worry about the condition of the course, it is at least playable.
Hope this helps
