Besides homes, land and electricity, prices aren't much more expensive in Hawaii than where I live now. So to me it seems reasonable with the added shipping costs.

Only expensive if you can't afford it.

Please make sure you get your umbrella ready, 70% chance of rain and in the 40's. I'll think of you at the Sony Open tomorrow - I'll be the one in the blue shorts and white short sleeve shirt.

So do you pay $8 or $9 for a gallon of milk? Or $9.73 to $10.00 for a pack of cigarettes? Sorry here a gallon of milk maybe at most $5 and cigarettes $5.50 pack. quite hogging the pakalolo brah!

Yup, and in this country we used to believe that it was ok for African Americans to sit in the back of the bus, or woman couldn't vote. Or ok owning slaves. Have a good day aloha!

Just when I thought this couldn't get any better.....

So, the high cost of living in Hawaii is on the same level as Black people sitting in the back of the bus, women not allowed to vote, or ta da - owning slaves?

Let us all ponder this gem.

Honestly it's basic economics on why it's not going to change. I believe there ARE a few other factors at work, but mostly supply and demand.

@McFrostyJ

Im sorry my facts were wrong the average cost per gallon of milk is $3.80 depending on what store it is here in Oregon.

So here in oregon we can run a profitable business on reasonable prices. Also assuming that the same avrg cost is making profit too.

Whats reasonable about Hawai'i? Is the price of that gallon of milk($8-9) because of shipping? Our average is $3.80(i assume shipping costs were included?) for the same milk. So the other $4.20 or $5.20 difference in price has to do with costs of shipping that one gallon of milk? Ok to be fair hawaii has the get tax which is 4% total gross of sale, so what is 4% of $8 or $9 bucks assuming of course that the business hasn't charged you for the tax at time of purchase. If they did then it runs about .50 tax for that same gallon of milk. But that still doesn't account for the $4.20-$5.20 difference in price. Worst case it costs $1 to ship. So that still doesn't account for the huge difference. Cost to keep the refrigerator cold? Is that the $3.00?

That was in reference to your attitude of your last statement. Nothing to do with costs etc.
