Hi Linda,
Here is the link for the community association: http://www.fernacres.org/
Can you give us a bit more insight into the kind of information you are looking for? Have you visited the area and the neighboring subdivisions or are you researching first from the mainland?
With aloha,
Cynthia

It's nice. Quiet, large yards keep the neighbors at bay, roads can be rough if you're not careful. What you need to start with is a climate search. Hilo is hotter and more humid, Mt. View is cooler but tends to rain, Volcano is like MidWest spring or fall temps (high 50's to high 80's) depending on the time of year. Then move on to what you want to be near, as most everything is in Hilo. Volcano has a lot to offer, tho. The last thing is to search prices. Email me if I can help further-I even know of a few properties for sale cheap by owner.

Oh yes .. we are interested to buy a house on Plumeria. I know of no way to find out about crime in the area then to talk to people who already live there. I did try the police department there and they would not give me any info.
Thanks to all for their help! PS Joe do you know of anyone selling a house there not just land By owner
mod note: please use a Direct Message for any correspondence between members. Thanks.

I was there yesterday , just drove for about a mile or so from the " entrance " , and it seemed quite nice . Bigger paved main roads than Hawaiian Acres

Crime is a variable thing. The sub-division next to Fern Acres, Hawaiian Acres, at one point had over 500 break ins per month. Folks organized a neighborhood watch program and the break ins dropped to less than 10 a month. This was in the mid-eighties, though, so it isn't current data.
