Default anyone familiar with Castleblock? wood alternative builders

aloha - my husband and I are in Puna (BI) and are interested in building. We recently came across this company: Castleblock - Environmental Building Materials

Does anyone have any experience with them? Their materials eliminate/greatly reduce termite and mold damage -- a great thing on this side of the island!

Mahalo in advance,

Kim

If you go to Punaweb, Rob Tucker, the owner of castleblock is the moderator and will be happy to tell you anything you would like to know. There is a "Building in Puna" section that you can read other posts.

Aloha, Sharlee

Default Thanks Sharlee!

Funny - I am new to punaweb and just found all of those excellent posts on Castleblock the day after I posted the message here. It sounds really encouraging. I may be mistaken, but I believe I read some posts from a Sharlee there --- are you using Castleblock also? It sounds like a wonderful system. Maybe we could talk sometime about your research and share ideas?

Yes, I am Sharlee from Punaweb

The idea of Castleblock is very attractive to us for all the reasons you listed. It is really nice to have a home that is low maintenance. It is $1500 to $2000 to tent your home every 5-6 years. Plus you have to move out for 24 hours. The mold and mildew factor is important to us as well. There is also an insulation quality of cement that is amazing. Keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winder. You can't beat it for a building material. When are you looking at building?
