We are doing an ongoing series about the high cost of living in Hawaii, what kinds of struggles people are dealing with, low salaries, how you're coping, etc. Expectations before you moved here vs. everyday reality. We've only been here a couple of months (from Florida) but I've noticed wine and Spam are both cheaper. Let the good times roll.
If you can, hop over to Oahu and go to the Waikiki Spam Jam. You will have a great time tasting all the interesting Spam creations. My favorite the year we went was the Spam Dim Sum. http://www.spamjamhawaii.com/

My friend did a fried spam coconut cake which sounds horrible, but was pretty tasty.
I'm not a big fan of sweet and salty together. For some reason, it confuses my taste buds. However, when we went to Spam Jam the big hit with most of the people was the Spam Cheesecake. (I preferred the Spam Dim Sum)
