Custom Home Builders? (Big Island Hilo Side)
Let me preface this request by saying, yes, I did run a search on the forum and did not come up with anything.
I'm looking for a custom home builder that is able to build a home that I already have plans for. I'm not too interested in the kit or packaged homes. I've looked at them and they aren't what I'm looking for. I want to build a home that will be a small B & B about 19 miles north of Hilo. Approximately 2300 sq. feet, not counting the lanais. I've emailed a couple of builders and I'm not having any luck getting a response. If any of you have any ideas, please let me know.
The lot is 2 acres and has county water and electric. It's at about the 350 foot elevation. I'm hoping to get things going by July or August. It depends on how long it takes to sell our home here. Thanks so much for your help!

Maybe try calling instead of emailing? These guys (girls?) are on the road a lot and might be more likely to return a call?
By North of Hilo, do you mean along the Hamakua coast? If you can be a bit more specific about your location, I will try to get a couple of names to you...
Just a side note for general reference...for those interested in this line of work. I met a lead carpenter on a remodel project recently who has been working in Hilo for a few years now and is currently in the middle of a renovation of a "north of Hilo" property. He said he doesn't even have a business card...he has been booked solid for a year and already is booked ahead for this year based on referrals only. He didn't even bother to give a group of us Realtors his phone number--said there was no need, he couldn't take on any more work right now. (We met him at a home that was just down the street from a house we were touring on our agent caravan. He gave us a tour of the home, which is for sale, and it was a beauty!)

Thanks Cynthia! I'll try calling instead. We're planning on building in Ninole if the land is still available in a few months when we have our home here under contract. If the lot isn't available, we'll still be looking for something from Honomu to Laupahoehoe.

I'm in a similar situation to WASailorgirl. I'm buying 14 acres of jungle located up Kawiki Canyon, about 10 miles from Hilo, and will soon be looking for a contractor. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
